These days we have been involved in a semminar about time. We have to study the concept of time from the perspective of various artist, characters, writers and musicians. My choice was Magritte, I found interesting the connection between his picture Les Temps Travesé 1939 and the theory of Spacetime by Einstein in 1905.
We can understand from the picture the fourth dimension of the space, time: the train. The present momment representent by the fire place and the clock. And finaly the past light cone is the mirror.
Does Magritte think about this when he was working on it? Possibly not... but this case refelcts how art and science, black&white, are much more closer than what we think.
