Nanna Ditzel Dannish furniture designer. She studied at the School of Arts and Crafts and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen graduating in 1946. Her works include cabinet-making, jewellry, tableware and textiles. She also created jewellery designs for Georg Jensen and furniture for Frederica.
"When I start designing an object anything is possible and permitted" she said She worked with her first husband in Milan where she achieved a well known success. Afterwards she moved to London, she married again. But was when she returned to Copenhagen where she developed the most interesting part of her carreer.
One of Ditzel's moste exciting object is the striped Butterfly chair on bent legs, an asymmetrical masterpiece and a refreshing antithesis to the minimalism charasteristic of most nordic furniture.
